Fishing at The Lakes RV & Cabin Resort

Our resort is home to two private 25-acre lakes, Misty Morning Lake and Cypress Lake (Catch & Release – no license required), and White Oaks Lake (Catch & Keep – 16 and older license required) offering excellent fishing right on your doorstep. These pristine waters are teeming with various fish species, including Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Spotted Bass, Black Crappie, and Bream. Here’s what you can look forward to:

  • Largemouth Bass: Known for their fight, these fish are a favorite among anglers. Try early morning or late afternoon for the best chance to reel in a big one.
  • Black Crappie: These large crappie go directly for a strike without nibbling and are abundant in our lakes. They are particularly active in the morning and evening.
  • Bream: Perfect for family fishing trips, Bream are easy to catch and make for a fun day out on the water.

Bring your boat, canoe, or kayak to launch from our three convenient boat ramps, or fish from the shore at one of our many lakeside spots. We can provide all the amenities you need, including bait and tackle. Save gas and towing inconvenience with our secure boat storage area, ideal for guests that frequent our resort. For those who prefer to travel light, we have plans to offer boat rentals in the future.

Exploring Nearby Lakes

If you’re looking to explore beyond our resort, Eastern North Carolina boasts a variety of lakes perfect for fishing:

  • White Oak River: Just a short drive from our resort, the White Oak River offers a peaceful fishing experience. The river is known for its diverse fish population, including Bass, Catfish, and Sunfish.
  • Neuse River: Flowing through the nearby city of New Bern, the Neuse River is a great spot for both freshwater and saltwater fishing. Anglers can catch Striped Bass, Red Drum, and Flounder, among others.
